Second annual dinner in Lone Star state
Updated on Jan. 26, 2008.
The Radio Club of America has scheduled a banquet in conjunction with the 2008 Texas APCO Conference & Expo. This will be the second banquet to be arranged by the Club’s Texas Event Committee, headed by Carroll Hollingsworth. A reception and cash bar begins at 6 p.m.; the dinner meeting is set for 7 p.m. on April 29, 2008 at the Galveston Island Convention Center, 5600 Seawall Blvd. Texas APCO’s convention will be conducted there from April 28-30, 2008.
The RCA Texas Dinner is open to members, guests and visitors. Advance registration at $50 per person is required; mail this registration form, a 100-kilobit PDF download, with your check. No on-site registration will be available.
Craig M. Jorgensen will deliver the keynote speech. Jorgensen is project director and co-chair of APCO Project 25 34, chair of the Project MESA Steering Committee, and a member of the boards of directors of the Radio Club of America and the Public Safety Spectrum Trust (PSST). Long associated with standards development for digital radio communications, Jorgensen is a past president of the Associated Public-Safety Communications Officials International (APCO) and the National Association of State Telecommunications Directors (NASTD).
Digital technology is a major change from the analog systems that weve used for the past 50 to 60 years, Jorgensen said. There needs to be a concerted effort to help people recognize that public safety systems are needed and we, as a society, have an obligation to fund and maintain those critical systems and services. Conversely, public safety communications managers have an obligation to seek out greater cooperation between all levels of government and the private sector in an effort to acquire the most efficient and cost effective solutions available.
If you would like to sponsor a portion of the banquet, contact Carroll (click for email) or call him at 800-966-3357. Sponsorships are available in levels ranging from $100 to $500. Some sponsorships include banquet tickets and promotion at the banquet and at the Texas APCO exhibition.
